Psalm 93

Psalm 93 is a very short chapter but teaches us a very important truth.  In a few words, here it is:  “The Lord reigns”.  That is how the psalmist opens the chapter and it is the theme throughout.  The fact is that our Lord reigns.  He is in control.  He is the Creator.  He is the Master of the Universe.  He is the First, the Last, the Great I AM.  He is God.  The writer goes on to tell us that “He is robed in majesty”.  God is majestic in His ways.  He is the One worthy of our praise.

But wait, there is more.  “The Lord…..has put on strength as His belt”.  Let’s face it – there is nothing that is beyond God’s ability to deal with or address.  He is able, more than able, to handle anything that comes up.  Some wonder if there are things that God is not able to handle or deal with.  Or if things happen that He is not aware of or in control of.  Let’s be clear – the answer to that question is a hearty NO.  God has strength and always has.  “Your throne is established from of old, you are from everlasting”.

God isn’t some new phenomenon.  He has been around since the very beginning.  He created the entire universe from scratch.  He has always been.  He will always be.  He is the same yesterday, today and forever.  Everlasting is a very long time.  He will never leave, nor be gone.  “The Lord on high is mighty”.  He is more powerful than anything that comes up.  He is the almighty God!

The chapter ends with these words: “Your decrees are very trustworthy; holiness befits your house, O Lord, forevermore”.  God’s Word is trustworthy. It is the manual for life.  It is the roadmap to how we should live.  We need to read it, know it, and live it.  It is the path to holiness.  And when we live that way, we are walking where God wants us to walk.  This is another thing that never changes – God’s Word.  It is truth, will be truth and has always been truth.  And if we listen to the Truth and follow it, we will find that life goes well.  God designed us to live His way.  We just need to line up and do it!
