Isaiah 56

Isaiah 56 has a couple of gems that jumped out at me today.  He starts the chapter with “Do what’s right and do it the right way”.  At my business, we used this as a way to get focused a few years ago.  We changed it to be: Let’s do the right things right every day.  To me that really sums up the way for us to be effective as a believer.  We need to just do the right things daily.  We need to build a habit of godliness – to consistently do the right things in the right way moment by moment.  It isn’t about flashy – it is about consistent.  We need to be disciplined and just do the right things every day.  The Christian walk is about being disciplined to do the things that lead to godliness every day – read His Word, pray, connect with others, journal, serve – the list can go on and on – but we just need to do these things consistently daily.  We need to do what’s right and do it the right way!

He also goes on to talk about the fact that some may feel like “damaged goods” – that they aren’t good enough for God.  Maybe to the point of saying “I don’t really belong”.  That is not true in God’s world.  God is about redeeming people.  He is about making people part of His family and “providing an honored place….as that of sons and daughters”.  God is in the restoration business.  He brings people into His family and makes them part of His plan.  And He uses the church as a tool for that.  Here Isaiah tells us that “my house of worship will be known as a house of prayer for all people”.  Does that describe your church?  A house of prayer?  For all people?  Sometimes church can become anything but a house of prayer.  It just becomes a busy place of activity that loses sight of the reason it exists in the first place – to bring people into a close relationship with God.

Here is a great reminder of who we are in God’s eyes!
