2 Chronicles 6

Solomon brings the people together in the new temple and blesses it.  He makes some comments which I think it is very good for us to keep in mind as he stands before the people:

1.      God has done what He said He would do

2.      God unswervingly keeps covenant

3.      God unfailingly loves

4.      God did exactly what he promised – every detail

As Solomon talks through the faithfulness of God, he also demonstrates the relationship with the Father.  Check this out: “he knelt in full view of the whole congregation, stretched his hands to heaven, and prayed”.  Solomon had just completed one of the biggest building projects of all time.  He has led the charge to build the Temple and it is done.  Yet this dedication service is not about Him – it is focused on the One who made the project possible with a lot of history lesson in the discussion as well.  Solomon calls out God’s consistent and faithful interaction with the people.  This is not about how great a job Solomon did in building the temple.  This is a service of recognizing that God is an awesome God and has been completely faithful to His word.  He is unswerving and unfailing – He is the same yesterday, today and forever.  He is God – the same God that we serve today with the same character and actions.  We can learn much from the story told in the Bible.  Our God never changes……….
