Revelation 8

Revelation 8 has the seventh and final seal  being opened by the Lamb.  When opened, there was “silence in heaven for about half an hour”.  This was the big one – and everything stopped including the uncountable people worshipping.  Seven angels stood before God.  And they began to blow their trumpet and let the destruction begin.  It is interesting that with each trumpet blast by each of the first four angels – disastrous outcomes occurred to 1/3 of the things it touched.

Angel – action – outcome

First angel – hail and fire, mixed with blood – a third of the earth was burned up, and a third of the trees were burned up, and all green grass was burned up

Second angel – a great mountain, burning with fire, was thrown into the sea – a third of the sea became blood, a third of the living creatures in the sea died, and a third of the ships were destroyed

Third angel – a great star fell from heaven, blazing like a torch on a third of the rivers and on the springs of water – a third of the waters became wormwood, and many people died from the water, because it had been made bitter

Fourth angel – a third of the sun was struck, and a third of the moon, and a third of the stars – a third of their light might be darkened, and a third of the day might be kept from shining, and likewise a third of the night

There were some major things happening as the angels blew their trumpets.  Destruction is happening.  But wait, there’s more.  As an eagle flew crying in a loud voice “Woe, woe, woe to those who dwell on the earth”.  It’s going to get worse before it gets better.  We have only seen the impact from the first four of the seven angels.  More to come in the following chapters.
