Psalm 15 is a very short five verses. But it asks a very important question: “How do we get on your guest list”? What is it that makes us a desired guest? What is God looking for in our life? The list is pretty direct:
- “Walk straight
- Act right
- Tell the truth
- Don’t hurt your friend
- Don’t blame your neighbor
- Despise the despicable
- Key your word even when it costs you
- Make an honest living
- Never take a bribe”
Nine very short and simple yet profound things that God is looking for in your life and mine. God wants us to live right. He wants us to live His way. And scripture drives home the importance with this verse: “You’ll never get blacklisted if you live like this”. Never is a long time. These are powerful little truths – words to live by. It doesn’t have to be complicated. In fact, often it is the simple things that trip us up. We allow our desire to be in charge mess up these simple little truths. We fall flat on our face because we ignore the simple commands. God expects us to get these right. He wants to invite use to the party. Make sure you are paying attention to His requirements to get an invitation!
