Psalm 11

Psalm 11 is a very short seven verses but how powerful the message is.  The Psalmist tells us he has “already run for dear life straight to the arms of God”.  Have you ever done that?  When things were overwhelming, when the pressure of life seems too much, have you run to God?  He is there ready with open arms to receive us.  He longs for us to come running.  It is such a powerful place to go.  I love how the writer tells us that God is the same as always.  Check out what it says: “God hasn’t moved…..His holy address hasn’t changed”.  He is the same yesterday, today and forever.  God isn’t going anywhere.  And as the old saying goes, if you don’t feel close to God, guess who moved?  He is there, ready and willing to openly receive us with His loving arms.  The real question is – will we run to Him.  Will we admit our need and recognize the promise of love that He has given to us.  It comes down to us willingly coming into His presence acknowledging we need Him.

But the writer goes on to give us this promise.  “He’s in charge, as always….not missing a thing”.  God hasn’t given any control to anyone or anything.  And certainly we don’t have any control.  He alone is in charge.  He alone has it under control.  The passage gives us this promise: “God’s business is putting things right….He loves getting the lines straight”.  So how are the lines in your life?  Are they straight and as they should be?  Or do they need to be straightened a bit.  That can happen in a couple ways.  We can recognize the error of our ways and fix them ourselves.  Or we can keep on ignoring God’s path and have Him make the change in His time and His way.  It won’t necessarily be something we will enjoy.  God is going to fix the lines of our life.  He will straighten them.  He is in charge.  We need to recognize and admit it.  Anything less will just lead us to be frustrated when the other shoe drops.  Is He running your life?  If not, now is the time to make that change!
