Day seven talks about dreams. I don’t know about you, but this is one area I sometimes wrestle. I have lots of ideas and dreams, but figuring out when they are just mine versus being God’s dreams for me is a struggle. I love these general guidelines to remember about God’s dreams:
1. They will never go against His Word
2. They will always rise to the top of priority
3. They will always require faith
4. They will always make a difference in the lives of others
5. They will always come from your heart
God never wastes the resources He has created – He places dreams in our hearts – big dreams that can only be filled with His power and His help. We all have them. But often we shut down those dreams before they even sprout. How can that happen? Because we have an enemy that wants us to fail to execute God’s dreams for us. He has a clear mission for you and me – to “kill, steal and destroy” our lives. Part of his mission involves killing our dreams. He wants to keep us from pursuing them and often does that by planting doubt, making us impatient (which often works because we want them to happen NOW), making us afraid, causing us to worry and on it goes. But here is the real truth – NO PROBLEM can destroy God’s dream for your life. Only our willingness to buy into the lies of the enemy can derail us. God wants to do so much in and through us. He has unbelievable plans for us. I love what He promises in Jeremiah 29:11. “For I know the plans that I have for you,’ declares the LORD, `plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope.” What a promise. What a God we serve. Don’t stop dreaming or pursuing God’s dreams. He has so much for each of us. And one of the best ways to do it is by sharing those dreams with others that can encourage and help you. I was helped so much by the book “Dream Giver” by Bruce Wilkerson. You might pick that up and really ask God want He wants from your dreams.
