Isaiah 13 talks about the God’s cleaning up of the world. His wrath is going to be set free on sin. “God on the move” describes what happens as “God’s day of judgement is near”. God can’t stand sin. The point of this chapter is that God will take “a day to waste the earth and clean out all the sinners”. Hmmm…what would the world look like after that? Well in Isaiah’s time it was pretty ugly. Most people didn’t make the cut. They were killed or run off. But it makes me wonder about us today. What if God decides to clean up the world again – which He surely will – because He hates sin just as much now as He did in Isaiah’s time?
Are you ready to deal with the burden of sin? Are you living a sin-free life? That is God’s standard for us. It isn’t ok to just sin a little. There are no classes or variations of sin. Sin is sin. Any sin is missing God’s mark and is enough to separate us from God. He is holy and perfect and cannot tolerate any sin. So when we fail to remain pure and holy, we have become separated from Him. Fortunately He sent Jesus to cleanse us, but that only occurs if we have received the free gift of eternal life through grace. It isn’t ours until we receive Him and make Him Savior and Lord. So what is your situation if God choses to clean the world from sin? Will you still be here because you are covered by the blood of the Lamb? Or does it look bleak for you. Time to really consider what would happen, because that determines your eternity. And eternity is a very long time……
