Isaiah 6

Isaiah chapter six contains four little words that really tell a story that should describe our walk with the Lord.  Isaiah sees a vision of angels and the pending doom that is to come.  He points out that everyone is talking the wrong way “using words that corrupt and desecrate”.  God has a standard for what we say.  The Scriptures are full of instruction about how we use our mouth and tongue and the important role it plays in relationships and worship.  The people were not living that way at all here – the words were “tainted – blasphemous even”.  Big problem and Isaiah recognizes it even in his life.  Then something amazing happens – an angel flew to Isaiah and “touched my mouth…with a live coal that he had taken with tongs from the altar”.  Pretty amazing stuff.  Why did the angel need tongs to carry the coal?  Because it was too holy to touch would be my guess.  But as the “coal touched your lips….gone you guilt, your sins wiped out”.  Isaiah was set free from the burden of sin and he was cleansed of the issues of the world.  So why does this happen?  God has a plan for Isaiah.

And then I heard the voice of the Master: “Whom shall I send? Who will go for us?” I spoke up, “I’ll go. Send me”!  God is looking for someone to carry His message to the people.  Now realize that the people aren’t going to just jump up and say yippee – a man of God is here to tell us we are “blockheads, with fingers in their ears and blindfolds on their eyes”.  This is not a cakewalk of a job God is asking for volunteers to do.  But Isaiah steps up – he gets off his butt and says in another translation “here I am, send me”.  Oh that I would be willing to accept the call of God and take that step over and over when He asks.  Four little words that can change not only our life when we say yes to God, but can be used by Him to change the world.  Do you realize the power of saying yes to God?  We are His chosen instruments of change.  We are the way He has decided to touch all mankind.  But that only happens when we say yes to God.  It only can occur when we are willing to get past the comfort of our routine and step out in faith and obedience to His will.  God is calling each of us to do things every day.  We have to listen to His still small voice, we have to pay attention to His direction, and most importantly we have to say yes when He calls.  I’ll go, send me” should be our battle cry.  It should be how we wake up each day, looking and watching for where God will send us.  We need to be seeking that direction and then pursuing it with all we are.  Isaiah gives us the model here for how we should relate to the Father.  Are you willing?  Are you signed up to say YES GOD to His every request?  That is His call!
