Ezekiel 37 is a cool chapter. It is the story of dry bones. You may have heard the old spiritual about them dry bones – this is where it comes from. Ezekiel is taken to a place to see what God will do. I love how the chapter starts: “God grabbed me”. Is God grabbing you? Would you notice if He was? God has a message for us each day. He is working all around us. He may not grab us the way He did Ezekiel here, but He wants to grab our attention and get our focus. God wants us to be engaged with Him. So as Ezekiel looks over the place God takes him, he sees a field littered with “dry bones” – these had been there a while. Pretty lifeless and unimpressive. But as God begins to have Ezekiel prophesize, the bones begin to stir and then “The bones moved and came together” and pretty soon “breath entered them and they came alive”. Can you imagine it? God breathes life into these dry bones and they come together as life. We serve an amazing God. He is absolutely able to deal with anything. That is what happens when you are the creator. God is and can and does do His will His way every day!
