Isaiah brings Hezekiah the word of the Lord. I found a reminder that he gives to the king of Assyria but it applies to us as well. See what he says about God: “I know when you sit down, when you come and when you go” – there are no surprises to our God. He knows it all. He sees it all. We don’t fool or do anything He is not completely aware of. Sometimes we think we do, but we are way wrong about that guys. God knows all – our actions, our motives and our hearts. And he knew Hezekiah’s heart and he answers his prayer for protection this way: “I’ll shield this city, I’ll save this city, for my sake and for David’s sake”. God is going to deal with the army of Assyria – and he does. 185,000 Assyrians died “that very night”. God did not waste any time acting. He did exactly as he promised. The king of Assyria took off and high tailed it back to Nineveh (interesting town). So the lesson is clear – God is in control – He knows what is going on and He will take action. Our role is to come to Him openly and honestly in humility.
